Contempt case against High Court staff

Legal Correspondent

HYDERABAD: A Division Bench of High Court comprising Justice B. Prakash Rao and Justice G.V. Seethapathy on Wednesday initiated proceedings in suo motu contempt case against 11 persons including the High Court staff and advocates for allegedly tampering court records.

The Bench framed charges against them for tampering records for the purpose of limitation (statutory time limit to file appeals etc.).

It directed the Registrar General of High Court to initiate disciplinary action against five other members of the High Court for not acting diligently.

The case number, name of the district, counsel’s name were corrected and the records tampered, the Bench prima-facie observed.

It declared that it was an attempt to make use of some other docket papers showing them as if it is an appeal filed by themselves rather than filing an appeal by themselves originally.
