Visitors’ details crucial in Kamala Devi murder case

The crime was committed after the driver left the house to pick up Nayantara from dance school

HYDERABAD: Details of frequent visitors to the house of film artiste Nayanatara, whose mother Kamala Devi was found murdered in the bathroom two days ago, have become crucial for investigators to catch the culprits behind the murder.

On Monday, Ms. Nayanatara left for her dance institute in Yousufguda, which was close to her house in Madhuranagar, on foot since the driver did not turn up in time.

The driver came to the house after some time, collected the keys from Kamala Devi and cleaned the car.

He later rang up Ms. Nayanatara and went to the dance institute to pick her up even as she said she would walk back to the house.

“Kamala Devi was murdered in the time gap after the driver left and drove Nayanatara back home,” the police said.

The investigators are verifying whether any visitor had dropped in at that time and are collecting details of persons frequenting the house. The car driver was working in the film artiste’s house for the past four months.

Earlier, five drivers worked in her house. All of them worked for brief periods.
