Nihal, Shristi triumph

MANGALORE: Nihal Manjunath (6.5), M.G. Gahan (6) and Antonio Viani D’ Cunha (6), all from Mangalore made a clean sweep of the top three spots in the boys’ section in the Yahoo U-13 State chess championship here on Sunday.

Though Gahan and Antonio finished with same number of points, the former took the second spot on better progressive score.

In the girls’ section, top-seeded Shristi J. Shetty (6) of Shimoga prevented a clean sweep for the locals quelling the challenge of Vanessa D’ Souza (4.5) and Chrisel Ann Pais (4).
