NEW DELHI: Defending champion South Central Railway set up a title clash against Western Railway in the 54th all-India Railways tennis championship at the DLTA Complex here. Aditya Madkekar and Arjun Goutham proved too good in powering Western Railway to its third title round, past the veterans of Southern Railway in the semifinals, on Sunday. Equally, Vishnu Vardhan and P.C. Vignesh proved pillars of strength for South Central Railway in its clash against the seasoned stalwarts of South Eastern Railway in the other semifinal. The results: Team championship (semifinals): Western bt Eastern 2-0 (Aditya Madkekar bt Manoj Kumar Sewa 6-1, 6-4; Arjun Goutham bt Saurav Sukul 6-0, 6-2). SCR bt NE Frontier 2-0 (J. Vishnu Vardhan bt Manoj Chaudhary 6-2, 6-0; P.C. Vignesh bt Ranjit Dutta 6-4, 6-2). Quarterfinals: Western bt Southern 2-0 (Arjun Goutham bt T. Chandrasekaran 6-0, 6-1; Nitten Kirrtane bt R. Manoj Kumar 6-1, 6-0). SCR bt SER 2-0 (J. Vishnu Vardhan bt Ram Kumar 6-0, 6-3; P.C. Vignesh bt Dalip Kumar 6-3, 6-2). NE Frontier bt SECR 2-0 (Manoj Chauhan bt Hentry Santiago 6-4, 6-7, 6-3; Ranjit Dutta bt Ankit Patel 4-6, 6-1, 7-5).
