BHUBANESWAR: Connoisseurs of the classical music in the city will be enthralled by musicians for four days from Thursday at the sprawling open air auditorium of Utkal Mandap on Utkal Sangeet Mahavidyalaya campus Briefing the media on the ensuing Vedant-BMC ‘Sangeet Mahotsav’, BMC Vice-President Rajinder Singh and general secretary Khirod Patnaik revealed that UK-based mining giant Vedant Resources have come forward to support BMC’s aim of promotion of Indian classical music. The festival will feature three distinct music styles of India - Hindustani, Carnatic and Odissi. It will also provide platform for the talented artistes in the State alongside the stalwarts. The Mahotsav will kick off with the recital of Rajan and Sajan Mishra brothers followed by the recitals of Pandit Shrikant Deshpande, vocalist Rabindra Nath Mishra sitarist Subhendu Rao and his wife Saskia “ Hindustani vocalist Pandit Vidyadhar Prasad Mishra Carnatic vocalist M.Sowmya and Odissi vocalist Bijay Kumar Jena will demonstrate the distinct features of the three styles. BMC advisor Ramahari Das and BMC member Sangeeta Gosain were present.
