DVDs, ornamental fishes seized

CHENNAI: Customs officials seized 460 DVDs from an abandoned suitcase and 200 live ornamental fishes from a passenger at Anna International Terminal on Monday.

While the DVDs were recovered on Sunday, the fishes were seized.

C. Rajan, Commissioner of Customs (Airport), said the suitcase arrived by an Air India flight from Kuala Lumpur.

Mr. Rajan said Air Intelligence Unit officials intercepted Mohamed Natharsa (39) of Pudukottai district. A detailed examination of the baggage resulted in the seizure of ornamental fishes.An acquaintance at the Kuala Lumpur airport requested him to carry the suitcase to Chennai, where a person would collect it from him, the passenger said.

Further investigation is on.
