NEW DELHI: Punjab National Bank (PNB) defeated Army XI 7-2 in the 18th Lal Bahadur Shastri hockey tournament at the Shivaji Stadium here on Wednesday. Jitender Saroha led the scoring with three goals followed by Bikas Topo (2), Rajwinder Singh and Navdeep while A.K. Ekka and D. Mahadik scored for the Army XI. Namdhari XI scored a comfortable victory over Indian Oil 3-0 with goals coming from Karamjeet Singh (2) and Sukhvinder Singh. In another match, Air India drew 4-4 with South Central Railway (SCR). Air India scored through Len Aiyappa, Ajmer Singh, Dilbagh Singh and Girish Pimple while K.K. Bharat, Amit Srivas, Prabhakar Singh and Mayur Subbaiah scored for SCR. In a close match, Bharat Petroleum defeated Indian Airlines 3-2. Amar Aiyappa (2) and Gurpreet Singh scored for BPCL while Pawan Bassi and Osaf-ur-Rehman were the scorers for Indian Airlines.
