BHOPAL: Hot on the heels of the tragic shooting incident at a Gurgaon school, a Class VIII student was shot dead allegedly by a schoolmate on the school premises in Madhya Pradesh on Thursday afternoon. The incident took place at Chorbari village, falling under the Singhpur police station in Satna district. Heated argumentAccording to information received here, there was a heated argument between the Class VIII student and one from Class X during the lunch recess. In a fit of rage, the elder one allegedly fired and injured the junior, who was rushed to the Satna District Hospital, where he was declared brought dead. Satna District Superintendent of Police K. S. Rajput told The Hindu that the alleged assailant had been arrested and the weapon of murder, an unlicensed country pistol, seized. Confesses to crimeThe boy purportedly confessed to the crime and told the police that he acquired the “katta” (weapon) for Rs.1,500 from one Pappu Mishra, who died recently in a road accident. Father abscondingAnother police officer revealed that the father of the accused is absconding in another case registered under Section 307 of the Indian Penal Code.
