HC adjourns case on Bidar Fort land

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: The Karnataka High Court on Monday adjourned further hearing on the contentious issue of grant of land around the famed mediaeval Bidar Fort to some persons by the Land Grant Tribunal of Bidar.

The court had earlier directed the State Government to procure original maps of the area around the Bidar Fort.

The State is challenging the grant of land as mala fide and illegal and the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) is saying that no part of the land around the fort could be granted as it is all categorised as protected area.

Both the ASI, which is in charge of the maintenance and upkeep of the fort built by the Bahman Shahs, and the State have filed appeals against the order of the tribunal.
