ESI amnesty scheme for employers, beneficiaries

HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh regional office of the Employees State Insurance (ESI) Corporation here has urged employers and beneficiaries to make use of its ‘liberalised amnesty scheme’ for employers prosecuted under Sections 75 and 85 of the ESI Act.

The scheme will be in operation till December 31 this year. An official release here on Monday said cases filed under Sections 85 and 85-A and 75 could be considered for amnesty subject to several conditions.

They include payment by the employer of both his and the employees’ share of contribution in full, for the period under prosecution, compliance with the Act, full payment of interest by employer, payment of 25 per cent of the damages levied or leviable for the period of prosecution/litigation, and an undertaking not to repeat the wrong declaration in future.

The release said the employer should furnish an undertaking to comply with the Act in future or else he/she would forfeit the right to avail the scheme.
