Canada-based Humber College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning on Thursday announced its new specialised business degree courses in International Business, Tourism Management, Fashion Management, Human Resources Management and e-Business Marketing starting fall 2008 for Indian students. The college offers these four-year courses on its Lakeshore campus located on the shores of Lake Ontario in Toronto. The campus is large with modern and high-tech electronic classrooms, computer labs, a variety of restaurants and an on-site residence. “The first two years of study are built on the platform of providing a solid business education offering courses in Marketing, Accounting, Economics and Law. In these two years students have an opportunity to gain the knowledge that employers require while taking their time to decide on specialising in one of the five areas,” said Ms. Wendy Gallegos of Humber College in Delhi on Thursday. “During the third and fourth years of the bachelor’s degree, students work towards specialisation by gaining practical skills through applied projects such as developing business plans for real companies and working on industry-linked assignments. Each degree also offers one full semester of paid work placement that provides a hands-on experience,” she added. In addition to the work opportunities available both on-campus and after graduation, Indian students who enrol for any of these five specialised courses would have access to entrance scholarships based on academic performance, Ms. Gallegos said.
