Kalaignar TV launches music channel

Staff Reporter

CHENNAI: Looks like Tamil film music lovers will have a wider choice of television channels to tune into soon.

Kalaignar TV’s 24-hour music channel ‘Isai Aruvi’ was launched on Sunday. The first programme began at about 11 a.m., with a film song whose lyrics were penned by Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi. This was followed by chartbusters from the new movies, ‘Billa’, ‘Bheema’ and ‘Kaalai’. The channel would air popular songs and have a slot for evergreen tunes. Its logo is the same as that of Kalaignar TV with the addition of animated musical notes. Kalaignar TV had announced in October that it would launch a music channel and a news channel. In the last few days, the channel has carried an ‘Isai Aruvi’ advertisement that featured an animated version of Rajinikanth and Ajith dancing together.

Another channel

Raj Television Network will also launch a new channel whose tagline goes ‘a music channel with a difference’.
