BC leader to go ahead with fast

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: The Government held a four-hour meeting with R. Krishnaiah of Andhra Pradesh BC Welfare Association at the Secretariat on Friday to dissuade him from going ahead with his indefinite hunger strike plan but could not achieve a breakthrough.

Mr. Krishnaiah later announced that he would commence his fast unto death from January 28 unless the Government issued orders on the promises made on different issues raised at the meeting.

The Cabinet sub-committee, headed by BC Welfare Minister M. Mukesh, which heard Mr. Krishnaiah and leaders of various BC communities, however, hoped that he would not resort to agitation. The leaders backed Mr. Krishnaiah.

Meanwhile, R. Krishnaiah has demanded that K. Ialaiah alias Sambasivudu, top Maoist leader, who was reportedly arrested, be produced before court.
