SCR terms GHMC action illegal

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: The South Central Railway (SCR) accused the GHMC of trespassing into its area to carry out the ‘very illegal’ demolition in Secunderabad, on Friday.

In an unusually strong-worded statement issued late in the night, the SCR maintained that the demolitions had not only left the railway properties unprotected, but also put “costly railway equipment and safety-related stores material at grave risk of pilferage and theft.”

Lashing out at the GHMC, the SCR maintained that “there was no genuine urgency for demolition of railway property” as other properties were untouched. The railway spokesman maintained that the SCR owned the lands for more than hundred years. The spokesman said that instead of discussing the issue with the railway officials, the GHMC had, embarked upon demolition.
