Basavaraj Bommai, 22 others join BJP
Special Correspondent
BANGALORE: Alleging that “Raj Bhavan has become Congress Bhavan”, the former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa has said that the BJP will launch a Statewide movement against Governor Rameshwar Thakur’s administration shortly.
Mr. Yeddyurappa was addressing a function got up here on Saturday to welcome the Janata Dal (United) leader and MLC, Basavaraj Bommai, and 22 other JD (U) functionaries to the BJP.
Mr. Yeddyurappa alleged that the Governor’s office had been behaving in an arbitrary fashion ignoring public concerns and interests. Mentioning the names of some former Chief Ministers and omitting his name deliberately in the advertisements issued on the occasion of the former Chief Minister, the late Kengal Hanumanthaiya’s birth centenary celebrations was conspicuous, he said.
Mr. Bommai said that he was joining the BJP as he was convinced that only the BJP could ensure security and stand up against “questionable developments and administrative measures” in the State.
He said the people were not bothered about political thoughts such as “secularism and communalism.”
