‘Only 50 p.c. work on drainage link has been completed’ ‘We hope to complete it by Wednesday’
IDEALS: M.S. Ramaiah Institute of Technology students at the help desk near Cauvery Junction in Bangalore on Sunday. BANGALORE: The work on the underground drainage link is causing delay in completing the underpass at the Cauvery Junction. Even though the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has completed all major works, except asphalting, the work on connecting the underground drainage link from the underpass to a nearby stormwater drain is causing a delay. Only half of the work on connecting the drainage link to a stormwater drain near Cauvery cinema (which is about 300 metres away from the underpass) has been completed. The BBMP officials said the work would be completed by Monday and it requires a day for the soil to settle in the dug up area of about 10 sq m to 15 sq m. “We can asphalt the area once the soil gets settled and hope to complete it by Wednesday,” said an officer. Help deskMeanwhile, students of M.S. Ramaiah Institute of Technology have set up two help desks at the construction site to provide information about the underpass to the general public. The students, including Swathi and Sumanth, explained to the curious public the reasons for the delay in completing the works and the features of the underpass.
