Alert in Delhi, Lucknow

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: A high alert was sounded in the capital following intelligence inputs indicating that some terrorists were planning an operation.

A couple of days ago, the Intelligence Bureau intercepted a telephonic conversation between suspected Lashkar-e-Taiba militants wherein they were heard discussing plans to carry out an operation.

Both the Delhi and Lucknow police were alerted because the suspected militants spoke about targeting “Rajdhani.” Security was beefed up at locations. While searches were carried out at guesthouses, checking of vehicles along the border was also intensified. More personnel were deployed at the Indira Gandhi International Airport and the Delhi Metro.
