HYDERABAD: VVIPs in the country would soon have an advanced jamming protection system as part of enhanced security cover.

The vehicle-mounted system developed by the city-based Defence Electronics Research Laboratory is capable of jamming Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), cell phones, satellite phones, wireless Local Area Network and mobile network within a range of 100 metres.

Portable version

Disclosing this to The Hindu here on Thursday, DLRL Director R. Sreedhar Rao said the DLRL also developed a miniaturised portable version that could be carried in a large suitcase. It would provide protection to VVIPs within a range of 30 metres in places like conference halls.
