NEW DELHI: An Indore-based man who has filed a complaint against noted painter M. F. Husain for allegedly portraying Hindu gods and goddesses in an uncharitable manner has moved the Delhi High Court seeking a direction to Husain to bear his (complainant’s) travelling, board and lodging expenses for attending the hearing of his case here. The complainant, Ajay Singh Naruka, through his lawyer Purnima Sethi submitted that while transferring his complaint from an Indore court to the court of an Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) here the Supreme Court had said that “the accused (Husain) shall bear all the expenses of the witnesses summoned at the instance of the complainant”. WitnessSince the complainant is also a witness in his own case, the accused is liable to bear all his expenses when he happens to attend the court proceedings here. Therefore, the Court should direct Husain to bear all the expenses of the complainant so as to enable him to appear in the court as and when his presence is required, Mr. Naruka submitted. The Supreme Court had in 2006 transferred all the complaints filed against Husain in different States to the ACMM at the Patiala House courts here. The Court had transferred the complaints on a request by Husain submitting that he faced a threat to his life.
