A Bird’s-Eye View: Oil painting of space exploration

NEW DELHI: An eight-day-long exhibition of paintings titled “Nature -- A Bird’s Eye View” by D. P. Sibal will open at the Embassy of the Slovak Republic here on Tuesday.

Based on a running theme -- “let the mountains speak”, “let the sky remain pure and blue”, “let the birds fly in joy and freedom” and “let the rivers keep their water clean and transparent” -- the paintings are inspired by the co-existential facet of nature.

“My paintings venture deep into the shrinking spaces around us despite us living in the ‘space’ age. One may call it a nostalgic journey into the past since most of the paintings are based on my childhood memories,” says Sibal.

An artist of diverse talents, the spectrum of Sibal’s creative genius encompasses many hues and dimensions. His background as an architect is reflected in his paintings and creates the intermingling of various colours that form an ambience that transcends the boundaries of tradition.

The senior artist has won several accolades and awards including International Felicitation at the Global Assembly of Educators for Environment besides awards from the United Nations and various other organisations.

The artist has also staged solo shows at prestigious locations such as India International Centre, Institute of United Nations and UNESCO, Bahai House, Shahjahan Art Gallery and Sahitya Kala Parishad.

He has also designed the logo of 40 years of World Development for the United National Development Programme besides designing greeting cards for the Indian Council of Child Welfare.
