Traffic constable injured

NEW DELHI: A Delhi Traffic Police constable sustained serious injuries when a speeding Maruti van knocked him down on the Mehrauli-Badarpur Road at Sangam Vihar here on Monday. The erring driver has been arrested on attempt-to-murder charges. According to the police the accident took place around 8 a.m. when Constable Jaidev Singh spotting an over-speeding Maruti van and v waved at the vehicle to stop. But the driver pressed on the accelerator instead and hit the constable, dragging him along over some distance. Jaidev was rushed to Batra Hospital where he has been admitted to the ICU.
