Steady inflow into Pilloor and Siruvani reservoirs

Coimbatore: Sharp showers continued to lash Coimbatore district on Thursday night and Friday morning resulting in marginal improvement in the various reservoirs in the district.

The rain led to steady inflow into the Pilloor and Siruvani reservoirs and also in the catchments of the various reservoirs under the Parambikulam Aliyar Project.

Rain ranged from mild to moderate throughout the night resulted in inundation of roads at many places in the city.

The city witnessed power disruptions owing to the rain that resulted in falling of tree branches.

No rain related casualty or damage was reported till Friday evening.

The Collector, V. Palanikumar, has asked the Revenue Department, Fire and Rescue Services, Highways, Electricity Board officials to remain in a state of readiness to handle the situations that could arise out of the heavy downpour.
