Acquire soft skills, graduates told

Special Correspondent

VILLUPURAM: Professional qualification combined with soft skills such as good communication ability will help the fresh graduates to attain success in their career, said Latha Pillai, Pro-Vice Chancellor of Indira Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi.

She was speaking at the eighth convocation of Theivanai Ammal College for Women here recently.

Ms. Pillai said the students should nurture leadership qualities instead of running behind power and position.

A lot of employment opportunities were available to the youth and after landing up in jobs, the graduates should make worthwhile contributions to society.

For instance, owing to their characteristic tolerance towards the youths, women could contribute a great deal in the field of education, she said.

Ms. Pillai handed over certificates to 413 graduates.

College secretary S. Selvamani said the strong fundamentals of economy had thrown up opportunities to the young graduates to become successful entrepreneurs .
