Railway employee receives gunshot wounds

SALEM: A railway trolley man received gunshot wounds on his back when he was on duty at the railway level-crossing near Royakottai in Krishnagiri district on Saturday night.
Police said Sambangi (53), who was a temporary trolley man of Royakottai Railway Station, was asked to man the level crossing at Iruthalam near Royakottai station as its gate-keeper had gone on leave.
On Saturday night, while he was on duty, he was shot from behind. Onlookers rushed him to a Primary Health Centre at Royakottai where he was operated upon to remove 6 pellets.
Later he was rushed to the Salem Government Medical College Hospital where two more pellets were removed.
His condition was stable.
