Teacher vacancies to be filled

BANGALORE: The Cabinet on Thursday decided to fill vacancies of 1,010 teachers and 101 principals in 227 Morarji Desai Residential Schools in the State.
So far, teachers have been appointed on a contact basis to these schools.
All these schools had shown good results in the recent examinations, including SSLC, Home Minister V.S. Acharya told presspersons after the Cabinet meeting.
Teachers’ appointment would be made on merit-cum-roster system, he said. A decision had also been taken to recruit 100 veterinary doctors in the State.
A dam would be constructed across Dandavati river in Sorab taluk of Shimoga district at a cost of Rs. 200 crore. The dam would store 1.85 tmcft of water and 19,000 acres of barren land would be irrigated.
The Cabinet authorised the Chief Minister to appoint a member to the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC).
A decision had been taken to extend the term of State Finance Commission, headed by A.G. Kodgi, by six months, till December-end, the Minister added.
