Karachi: The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) CEO, Syed Ashraful Haq, stressed that the STAR Cricket Asia Cup is intended to send a strong message across to the rest of the cricketing World that there is no cause for worry ahead of the Champions Trophy here in September. “We want to drive that point across that it is safe to have a big tournament here and by having the Asia Cup here at this time despite the packed ICC schedule, we are telling those who have security concerns that there is nothing to worry about. It’s also about Asian solidarity and we want to support Pakistan,” Ashraful told The Hindu here on Saturday night. — Principal Correspondent
