Discoms told to upgrade systems
NEW DELHI: Power Minister A.K. Walia on Wednesday instructed the Capital’s power distribution companies to suitably upgrade their systems to meet the growth in power demand.
Speaking at a review meeting, Dr. Walia said the Government had set aside Rs.225 crore a year to finance the subsidy on power consumption being given to households who restrict their monthly consumption to 150 and 200 units during non-peak and peak months respectively. Nearly 14.5 lakh of the 32 lakh consumers had benefited from this scheme in May, June and July, Dr. Walia added.
