NEW DELHI: The first day of sale of application forms for the Delhi Development Authority’s new housing scheme saw a heavy rush of people at Vikas Sadan here on Wednesday. “Around 80,000 application forms were sold at Vikas Sadan and other banks across the Capital on the first day. Ten thousand forms were sold at our office in Vikas Sadan,” said DDA spokesperson Nemo Dhar. The scheme is open up to September 16 and the forms are priced at Rs.100 each. About 5,000 one-bedroom, two-bedroom and three-bedroom flats along with expandable ones are on offer. The “DDA Housing Scheme-2008” offers flats at Pitampura, Dwarka, Motia Khan, Paschim Vihar, Dilshad Garden, Vasant Kunj, Narela, Shalimar Bagh, Jhilmil, Nand Nagari, Peeragarhi, Sarai Khalil, Rohini and Bindapur. Varying from Rs.7.2 lakh to a whopping Rs.77 lakh, the cost of the flats — all freehold properties — depends on their location in the city. The plinth area that ranges from 39.39 sq. m. to 158 sq. m. would also be one of the factors that determine the cost of the flats. To prevent irregularities and keep the whole exercise transparent, the flats would be allotted through a computerised process. The draw will be carried out in the presence of judges and the media. The applicant needs to be an Indian citizen and possess a Permanent Account Number issued under the Income Tax Act. Only one person from a family is eligible to apply.
