SN College (Chempazanthy) wins overall title

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: SN College (Chempazanthy) won the overall title in the Kerala University inter-collegiate aquatics meet at the Water Works swimming pool here on Wednesday.

SN College, which emerged champion in both the men’s and women’s sections, finished first with 204 points. MG College came second with 95 points while University College was third with 64 points.

Five records set

Five records were set on the final day which saw A.R. Rohini (SN College) and R. Rajeev (Iqbal College) win a record double each.

Rohini set new marks in 50m freestyle (29.50s) and in 100m freestyle (1:06.16) respectively. Rajeev’s records came in men’s 50m breaststroke (0:33.06) and 100m breaststroke (1:05.02) respectively. S. Sreeja (University College) set the other mark in 100m breaststroke event.

MG College won the water polo title defeating SN College in the final. University College came third.

Men: 50m freestyle: Bichu Suresh (SNC, Chempazanthy), 0:26.07; 100m freestyle: Arun Krishnan (MG College, Tvm), 0:58.44; 1500m freestyle: Arun Krishnan (MG College, Tvm), 19:17.88.

100m backstroke: V. Vishnu (SNC, Chempazanthy), 1:10.23; 50m breaststroke: R. Rajeev (Iqbal College, Peringamala), 0:33.08 (NMR); 100m breaststroke: R. Rajeev (Iqbal College, Peringamala), 1:06.02 (NMR); 100m butterfly: Rajesh Kumar (MG College, Tvm), 1:07.61; 200m IM: R.J. Sreejith (SNC, Chempazanthy), 2:26.38.

4x100m freestyle relay: (SNC, Chempazanthy), 4:07.02.

Women: 50m freestyle: A.R. Rohini (SNC, Chempazanthy), 0:29.50 (NMR); 100m freestyle: A.R. Rohini (SNC, Chempazanthy), 1:06.16 (NMR).

400m freestyle: Saranya S. Nair (MG College, Tvm), 5:13.72; 100m backstroke: K.R. Anu (University College, Tvm); 50m breaststroke: B.R. Neenu (SNC, Chempazanthy), 0:40.75; 100m breaststroke: S. Sreeja (University College, Tvm), 1:28.42 (NMR).

100m butterfly: S. Beena (SNC, Chempazanthy), 1:15.33; 4x100m freestyle relay: SN College, Chempazanthy, 4:40.83.

Overall championships: SNC Chempazanthy (204 points), 2. MG College (95 points), 3. University College, Tvm (64 pts).

Men: 1. SN College, Chempazanthy (113 points), 2. MG College, Tvm (55 pts), 3. Iqbal College, Peringamala (25 pts).
