The visiting team practised simultaneously on two pitches — one each for pacers and spinners — at the Rajasthan Cricket Association’s Centre of Excellence. Brett Lee and Mitchell Johnson bowled to Mathew Hayden. Meanwhile, Australian captain Ricky Ponting preferred to do some shadow batting before getting onto the pitch. Michael Hussey looked very confident as he executed some nicely-timed straight drives. After tackling speedsters like Stuart Clark and Doug Bollinger, Hussey spent some time working with the spinners Jason Krejza, part-timer Michael Clarke and four Centre of Excellence trainees. The Aussies, backed by a 11-member support team, also employed the bowling machine for half-an-hour to allow the batsmen have lengthy sessions. Australia will meet the RCA’s Centre of Excellence team in a warm-up match at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium here on September 27 and 28.
