Reliance to pay 40 pc interim

MUMBAI, March 30

RELIANCE Industries Ltd has announced an interim dividend of 40 per cent (Rs. 4 per share) for the current fiscal. The dividend outgo will be Rs. 427 crores. For the 1998-99 fiscal, the company paid a dividend of 37.5 per cent.

The company had recorded a net profit of Rs. 1,704 crores and net sales of Rs. 14,553 crores during the previous fiscal.

Reliance shares went up by Rs. 21.55 to touch Rs. 291.25 on Thursday from Wednesday's close of 269.70 on the BSE. On the NSE, the scrip touched a high of Rs. 293 and ended the day at the same level. Shares worth Rs. 1.7 crores were traded on the NSE, whi le the BSE witnessed an exchange of shares worth Rs. 1.3 crores.
