Our Bureau
NEW DELHI, March 30
ELI Lilly Ranbaxy, a joint venture of the US-based Eli Lilly and Ranbaxy Laboratories, has introduced a new ergonomically designed, reusable insulin delivery device _ HumaPen.
The pen provides insulin users with an easy and convenient way of injecting Lilly's Huminsulin (Human insulin, recombinant DNA origin), including the fast acting insulin analog, Humalog (insulin lispro, recombinant DNA origin).
Humapen is easy to use and provides patients with a convenient way to inject insulin that help them control their diabetes and avoid the complications often associated with the disease, a company release claimed.
Humapen can be used with 3ml cartridges of Humalog or Huminsulin and allows patients to inject upto 60 units of insulin in a single injection.
Depending upon how the patient handles and cares for the pen, each reusable Humapen may last for up to three years or more.
The pen has met draft ISO standards for dose accuracy and functionality, the release said.
