Warren Tea-DPIL group buys hotel in Jaipur

Our Bureau

CALCUTTA, April 22

WARREN Tea-Darjeeling Plantation Industries Ltd (DPIL) group's plans to diversify into the hospitality industry has taken concrete shape with the acquisition of a three-star hotel property in Jaipur at a cost of Rs. 8.5 crores. The group is controlled by Mr. Vinay Goenka.

The acquisition has been made through Maple Hotels & Resorts Pvt Ltd, a group company, which has acquired the entire equity of Arts & Crafts Pvt Ltd, a Jaipur-based company, which owned and operated Hotel Maurya Palace in Jaipur.

According to a press release issued here by Maple Hotels & Resorts, the property comprises 56 rooms -- including four deluxe suites -- a multi-cuisine restaurant, a bar, a coffee shop, a shopping area, a rooftop swimming pool and three conference halls. The hotel is centrally air conditioned with facilities for central heating during winter.

Maple Hotels has earmarked Rs. 1 crore for upgradation and introduction of new facilities in the hotel. Plans have been drawn up to strengthen the operating systems and market the property aggressively.

The group is intent on not only further acquisitions of running hotel properties but also association with globally-recognised hotel chains. Negotiations in this regard are on, according to the release.
