Geometric sets up new unit at Pune

PUNE, May 28

GEOMETRIC Software Solutions Co Ltd, a provider of software applications for the engineering sector, is in talks with three key players in Japan for a long-term relationship.

The company has made inroads into the Japanese market

from three customers to 15 customers during the current fiscal, said Mr. Manu Parpia, Managing Director of the company. Exports

apart, the company also plans to focus on the domestic market during the fiscal, he added.

Mr. Parpia was in town to inaugurating the new development centre of the company at Hinjewadi near Pune.

The facility, set up at an outlay of Rs. 15 crores, has been partly funded from the proceeds of the IPO launched during February 2000.

The facility has been built with a view to housing the staff of all the four development centres at Pune. Currently, the unit can house up to 400 software developers but this would soon be doubled, Mr. Parpia said.
