Bangalore Labs enters West Asian market

Vimala Vasan

ABU DHABI, June 18

BANGALORE Labs, e-business and infrastructure solutions provider, has announced its entry into the West Asian market through setting up a regional headquarters in the Dubai Internet City (DIC). Mr. V. Natarajan, CEO of Bangalore Labs, told Business Line that the company is also planning to establish a $1-million Network Operations Centre in DIC.

``We have discussed the matter with the DIC authorities in Dubai and plan to set up our base there as soon as the DIC gets under way, probably in October,'' Mr. Natarajan said.

He said Bangalore Labs, a six-month-old start-up, plans, over the next year, to set up a NOC, the first of its kind in India, to operate on a global scale, which is vendor-independent and capable of remotely managing both networks and enterprise, third p arty networking devices and computing platforms, mission critical applications, right down to connectivity.

The main NOC will be based in Bangalore, with satellites planned in the US, Europe, West Asia and Asia-Pacific. In West Asia, the NOC will be based at the DIC, he said.

``Our major strategy is to offer remote-sensing monitoring to make sure that networks are working properly as they form a very critical aspect of the whole system,'' he said.

The company, which is not a vendor-oriented firm, is currently in discussions with leading clients in the UAE for three to four projects, which are likely to be finalised shortly, Mr. Natarajan said. ``Having a presence here is, therefore, a major consid eration for us, to enable us to be closer to our clients,'' he said.

The company expects to do $4 millions worth of business by the third year of operations. The initial business plan in West Asia focuses on a year of business development and market education. A major two-day seminar is being planned in Dubai from June 27 for professionals in the region, he said.
