Central subsidy

GUWAHATI: The North-Eastern Development Finance Corporation Ltd (NEDFI), the newly-engaged nodal agency for Central subsidies in the north-eastern region, has disbursed the first instalment of Central Transport Subsidy and Capital Investment Subsidy amou nting to Rs. 10 crores to beneficiary units of Assam, Meghalaya and Tripura.

A NEDFI source said that 26 units in Assam received Rs. 7.03 crores, 16 units in Meghalaya received Rs. 2 crores and 29 units in Tripura received Rs. 0.97 crores.

The Central subsidy, both transport and capital investment, payable to the industrial units of North-East, were long overdue and related to the period from 1988 to 1998. -- Our Bureau
