19 SBI branches fully computerised
GUWAHATI: The State Bank of India, Guwahati zonal office has fully computerised as many as 19 branch offices under its Guwahati module and increased their business hours for the benefit of the general public. Mr. J.Goswami, Deputy General Manager, SBI zo
nal office, said.
Another 20 branches in Nagaon district would soon be computerised to facilitate easier transaction for the customers. He said that during the current year, one personal banking branch would be opened at Ganeshguri in Guwahati city with most modern bankin
g facilities for exclusive use of customers in the personal segment.
He said that a number of programmes were being taken up by Guwahati module under the community service banking activity mainly for the rural and tribal population.
In pursuance of the decision of the State Government to instal shallow tube wells in the State, SBI Guwahati module had identified crop loans in rural centres as a thrust area during the current fiscal, he said.
A few branches have already been identified for intensive crop loaning and all rural branches would be directed to step up crop loaning and issuance of Kisan credit cards. -- Our Bureau
