TMG software programme on TV
Our Bureau
CALCUTTA, June 18
TECHNOLOGY Media Group (TMG) has announced plans to produce a weekly television programme targeted at software professionals. Titled ``P Cube: Building Software Better,'' the programme would focus on software engineering and management covering ``people,
process and performance'' and highlight India's capabilities and achievements in the IT sector. The programme would be aired on CNBC's IT Hour once a week.
According to Mr. Subhanjan Sarkar, Chairman of TMG, programmes with focus on technology, especially IT, were important in the Indian context with the nation moving up the value chain in software services. TMG's recently-launched 24-hour technology channe
l, TMG Enter, was focussed on providing exclusive information on technology.
``The focus is on technology, especially IT, and we shall follow it wherever it goes,'' Mr. Sarkar told a news conference here on Saturday. He was here for the formal launch of TMG Enter in Calcutta. TMG Enter is targeted at the growing IT community and
is viewed in more than three million homes across the country. ``We hope to bring India on par with the rest of the world in information networking.''
The analogue channel would remain free-to-air for two years. TMG Enter currently produces five hours of original programming daily, including one hour in Hindi. Talks were under way with overseas channels for bringing in more content for technology-based
programmes. Mr. Sarkar spoke of the channel's revenue model and said it was expected to break even in two-and-a-half years.
