Gartner e-business meet in Mumbai
Our Bureau
BANGALORE, June 18
GARTNER India announced on Saturday that it has firmed up plans to bring its definitive e-business conference to the country. ``Strategy 2000: A Gartner Summit on e-Reality'' will be held in Mumbai on August 2 and 3 this year, according to a release.
The two-day event will showcase Gartner's top-line team of international speakers and analysts, who will detail global trends in business and technology and highlight their relevance to the Indian business environment. The summit will provide insights an
d strategies to help Indian companies succeed in the current e-business landscape, the release added.
Mr. Partha Iyengar, Country Manager, Gartner India, said: ``The Indian e-business market is buzzing with activity and the current environment is just the tip of the iceberg. Gartner expects e-business spend in the B2B (business-to-business) area to touch
$995 billions by 2004, up from roughly $100 billions in 2000 in the Asia-Pacific region, with India's spend being $800 millions going on to $15 billions in 2004. This is an exponential jump and what is becoming extremely relevant in today's environment
is a company's ability to produce and deliver on a robust and scalable e-business strategy.''
`Strategy 2000 is a forum that will help companies understand what the best business model to pursue in the Internet economy is,'' he said.
Gartner's business-to-customer (B2C) e-spend estimates for the region are $96 billions in 2004, up from $3 billions, with India's figures going up to $500 millions in 2004, he said.
On the relevance of selecting ``e-reality'' as the conference theme, Mr. Robin Joffe, Director Sales (Asia), Gartner, said: ``We are confident that Strategy 2000 will help Indian businesses obtain a sustainable competitive advantage by providing them rel
evant strategies and insights on e-business.''
