Welcome move
Priyanka Kakkar, New Delhi
The decision of the Delhi government to order 1000 more CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) buses, is a step that must be welcomed by one and all.
With the population figures becoming worse, there is a growing realisation that if something substantial is not done, the already grim situation shall become irrevocable. The Supreme Court has now made it mandatory for all vehicles to comply with Euro-II
emission norms.
Which is why, the use of CNG buses, which are ideally-required for cities such as Delhi, becomes important. CNG is, by far, the most environment-friendly fuel as compared to petrol, diesel.
But even after having taken the right initiatives, there is still a shortage of such buses. Hence, there is a great need to make CNG-use as popular as possible. One hopes the Government continues to good work by putting more CNG-fitted vehicles on the ro
ad.
