Low pressure weakens
THE low pressure area over Orissa weakened and the south-west monsoon activity also does not show much vigour. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) says Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Sikkim and the north-east can look forward to some good rainf
all.
Several parts of Karnataka received heavy rainfall while Bihar plateau, and parts of Madhya Pradesh had rains under the influence of the low pressure area, which now has ended up as a cyclonic circulation over east Madhya Pradesh.
People in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, western parts of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Andaman and Nicobar and Andhra Pradesh are expected to experience rain or thundershowers in the next 24 hours.
The high rainfall spots: Kota in Karnataka (18 cm); Panjim in Goa (11 cm), Jia Bharali in Assam (9 cm). -- Our Bureau
