Greenpeace seeks liability rules on GMO releases
GREENPEACE has called on the European Union (EU) Environment Ministers to ensure that the EU moratorium on the approvals of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) remains in place as the Ministers met on Thursday for the June Environment Council in Luxemb ourg.

Quality norms soon for oil-bearing materials import
THE Government will soon formulate quality standards for the import of oil-bearing materials in order to prevent the possible abuse of the liberal policy following the recent reduction in customs duty, a senior official of the Food and Consumer Affairs M inistry told Business Line.

Tea prices firm up on good demand
A GOOD general demand has resulted in the spurting of prices of almost all varieties of tea at the Kochi tea auction. Of the total quantity of 1146,000 kg on offer, well-made good quality CTC grades were dearer by Rs. 2-4 and occasionally more, especiall y for powdery grades.
