Intelligroup in deal with Puerto Rico

Our Bureau

HYDERABAD, June 22

INTELLIGROUP Inc, a global vertical Application Service Provider (ASP), has entered into an agreement with the Puerto Rico Government to set up its new technology development centre, including R&D centre and training facilities in Trujillo, Alto Puerto R ico.

This new ASPPlus Advanced Development Centre of the Americas is slated to begin operations in the third quarter of the fiscal. It is expected to help Intelligroup's ASPPlus hosting business in North America, Latin America and the Europe.

The alliance envisages incentive grants of $9 millions that are contingent on the employment and training of about 500 Puerto Rican technology professionals over a three-year period.

``With its highly-educated, bilingual resources, proximity to the US and ideal time zone, Puerto Rico is a natural gateway to Latin America and to our global commitments,'' Mr. Arjun Valluri, Chairman and Co-CEO of Intelligroup, said.

He added that the ASPPlus Advanced Development Centre of the Americas would enhance the company's ability to deliver business solutions and continuous 24x7 support to customers.

``We are committed to making this centre a success both for Intelligroup and for Puerto Rico,'' he said.

Intelligroup is a global application service provider of customised, scalable enterprise and e-commerce solutions to specific industry verticals, including process and discrete manufacturing, retail and professional services.

With its select group of strategic alliances, it provides businesses solutions based on SAP, PeopleSoft, Oracle, Niku, MicroStrategy and Ariba.
