Rs 100/qtl subsidy offered for sugar exports -- Industry initiative to trim huge glut
IN a significant move, the Indian Sugar & General Industry Export Import Corporation Ltd (ISGIEIC) has offered a subsidy of Rs. 100 per quintal on sugar exported from the country.

GOOD demand for CTC categories prevailed at Guwahati sale No. 26 (June 27, 28 & 29) with prices following quality. All good liquoring and improved Assams showing second flush character were firm to irregularly dearer.

World May coffee exports down
FOR the second consecutive month world coffee exports have declined. As per the provisional trade data released by the International Coffee Organisation (ICO), coffee exports in May 2000 aggregated 77.53 lakh bags of 60 kg each, down from 79.93 lakh bags in April and from the high of 81.28 lakh bags in March. For May 1999, the figure was 78.19 lakh bags.

Levers plan major update of Rossell tea estates
LEVERS, which already control a little over 51 per cent in Rossell Industries Ltd, have decided to undertake a five-year extensive development programme for the field and factory assets of Rossell, which has seven tea estates, all in Assam.
