Tata Honeywell expands range

WITH a presence in the electronic security solution segment, Pune-based Tata Honeywell Ltd is all set to expand its presence in this sector with its new range of surveillance systems, according to Mr. Harshvardhan Chitale, Head Corporate Strategy and Bus iness Development. The surveillance systems include CCTVs and Video door phones.

Launching the electronic security solution in the city, he said the suite of systems include sensors, detectors and control panels which assure total security and safety to homes, establishment and institutions from gas leaks, fire, theft and intrusion. Also included is a distress call alert mechanism.

He said the company has recently signed an memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Group 4 Securitas to address the need for central monitoring and response services for electronic security solutions. This is a 50:50 partnership and would be known as Cent ral Monitoring Services (CMS) India Pvt Ltd, he said.

Mr. Chitale added that the first CMS service would be expanded to cover six major cities during the next few months and to all major cities in the country in two years time. This would entail an investment of Rs. 1.5 crores, he added.

Looking at the market potential for the product, Mr. S. Shankar, Head, Electronic Security Products, Business Unit, said, latent market in terms of size is estimated to be Rs. 100 crores while the potent market, which materialised into sales during the l ast financial year, was worth Rs. 20 crores. He said the company estimates a turnover of Rs. 12 crores from this segment during the current financial year and Rs. 20 crores by the next fiscal.

To address the price factor, the company has also announced finance schemes with Tata Finance and ICICI. However, he noted that the response has not been much but pointed out that the company hopes to garner at least Rs. 5 crores through this route. Dif ferent service packages, tailored to meet individual needs, would be offered on a subscription basis, he said. This would range between Rs. 150 to Rs. 600 for small homes and up to Rs. 1,000 for commercial establishment, he added.
