Vizag port ahead of other ports in cargo traffic

VISAKHAPATNAM, July 10

THE Visakhapatnam Port Trust (VPT) is ahead of all other major ports in the country by handling 12.5 million tonnes of cargo hitherto during the current fiscal.

The Chennai and Kandla ports are in the second and third places by handling 10.5 m.t. and 9.9 m.t. respectively.

VPT has handled 9.6 m.t. during the corresponding period of the last financial year. The port has handled 3 m.t. more than the corresponding period of the last year so far.

The port has handled 5 m.t. of oil products, two m.t. of iron ore and 5.5 m.t. of other cargo so far.
