MTNL staff defer strike

Our Bureau

NEW DELHI, July 10

EMPLOYEES of Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL) have deferred their proposed indefinite strike till July 21 at the instance of the Union Communications Minister, Mr. Ram Vilas Paswan, according to a Government release.

The employees had earlier stated that they had no option but to go on strike from midnight tonight following the failure of talks with the Minister on Sunday.

``We have deferred our strike till July 21 as the Minister has assured us that all outstanding issues will be settled by that date,'' Mr. Swarup Singh, President of the National Telecom Staff Union, said after today's meeting.
