ESC team to explore IT-enabled services

NEW DELHI, July 10
A HIGH-LEVEL business delegation from India will visit the US during the first week of August to explore the market for Indian information technology-enabled services.
The Electronics & Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC), under the Ministry of Information Technology (MIT) has brought together the group, which will also participate in the 12th ICCM Call Centre Management Conference and Exposition to be hel
d in Chicago during August 1-3.
Call centre business is expected to grow substantially in the next few years as part of the spurt in the worldwide IT-enabled services market, which is projected at $800 billions by 2008, according to Mr. D.K. Sareen, Executive Director, ESC.
The IT-enabled services projected to grow are medical transcription, data entry, Web development, multi-media, digitisation and mapping. The call centre industry has been tipped to grow at 16.6 per cent during 1997-2004.
The ESC delegation would include representatives from IT companies such as Air Infotech, RDM India, Inde-Dutch Systems, Datamatics, California Infotech and Lee & Nee Software Exports. A series of meetings have been planned in Dallas, San Francisco and Ci
ncinnati to explore possibilities of joint ventures and strategic alliances with US companies.
The ESC has constituted a special committee on exports of IT-enabled services and to address issues such as bandwidth availability, delegation and road shows as well as ISO quality certificate.
