Nabard award for TN co-op bank

CHENNAI, July 10

THE Tamil Nadu State Cooperative Bank has been awarded the second prize at the national-level competition for best performance in 1998-99, instituted by the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard), according to a Nabard press release .

The award will be presented by the Union Finance Minister, Mr. Yashwant Sinha, on July 12 at New Delhi.

The Dharmapuri District Central Cooperative Bank and the Aravakurichi Primary Cooperative Agriculture and Rural Development Bank have won the State-level best performance awards in their respective categories.

For 1997-98, the Erode District Central Cooperative Bank and the Perundurai Primary Cooperative Agriculture and Rural Development Bank have been awarded the first prize for best performance.

The banks have been selected from the 23 district cooperative banks and 181 primary cooperative agriculture and rural development banks in Tamil Nadu.
