Lightning strike by Andhra Bank staff

HYDERABAD: The employees of Andhra Bank working in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad are going on a lightning strike on Tuesday as part of their protest against the management's anti-employee policies, especially against the mass transfers resorted to by the bank's management recently.

This was stated in a press communique here by the representatives of the Andhra Bank Award Employees' Union, the Andhra Bank Employees' Federation, the Andhra Bank Workmen Union and the Andhra Bank Employees' Union.

``In protest against the management's arbitrary and vindictive transfers violating the bilateral understandings, all the award staff unions in Andhra Bank have given a call for a lightning strike on July 11, 2000,'' they said.

The representatives of the four unions demanded that the management immediately withdraw the ``unfair transfers and relieve the employees from agony and suffering.'' -- Our Bureau
